Calorie Deficit Dashboard

When I started my road to fitness, I promised myself to track my food intake everyday by using a food scale, then log all of it to my Huawei Health app. Now to maximize my progress and interpret the data that would help me analyze my eating patterns and what works and what’s not, I made a “Calorie Deficit Dashboard” on Looker Studio.

The data is basically from my input to the app. I just input the food and the corresponding quantity (weight in grams), and it automatically transmute the equivalent Calories, even the macros: Carbohydrates, Protein and Fat. Also, my activity level is also being tracked by my Huawei smartwatch in which the app also provides the calories I burned through activity and workouts. These data I get from the app is transferred to Sheets (Google spreadsheet app) with formulas, so I only get to input 5-6 cells for each date.

Every Sunday, I weigh myself to get my Weight and the Body Fat % using my Huawei scale (it’s cheap, so the accuracy might be within 70-80%). I actually wasn’t able to do this consistently, but I plan to make a calendar reminder, so I can at least do this for progress tracking.

The dashboard has 3 parts: Weekly, Monthly and Yearly. The extra page is just a Week Guide (provides corresponding date weeks of the year). This won’t literally help me lose weight because it will still depend on my discipline, but atleast I get to track my progress, and would explain what went wrong in case I became overweight again.

This dashboard is also a project for myself. A capstone as a data analyst and fitness enthusiast. I update the data once a week or every 3 days (in case I don’t forget).

My goal is to be at 15% body fat in 2026.
