DotA 2 – Defense of the Ancients now in 3D!

Are/Were you one of the DotA addicts? Since it began in the Philippines around 2005, I became a semi-addicted player. Why? It’s because the gameplay is so so GREAT! A 5 vs 5 game using tactics to destroy the enemy’s base is such a fantastic idea to begin with. What makes it more exciting are the skills, the heroes, and the items of the game.

Defense of the Ancients, or simple DotA, is a game map with the use of Warcraft III: Frozen Throne game. It rose fully to fame around 2006 in the Philippines. You won’t miss DotA in every computer shops around Metro Manila. Of course, their market are students or kids, but there are also young adults in their 20s who play the game.

DotA also became a business by the computer shops. There are tournaments in which a group of 5 should pay quota then win their way on for a prize money. Some group of players use DotA as a sideline, like playing with a bet on it, only pros do that for sure.

Dota 2

Now would you be happy now that DotA 2 is coming to Philippines? What’s there for DotA 2 anyway? By watching the video, I can conclude that it is now in 3D. Well, that’s cool, more of like HoN, but I prefer the system of the original DotA. It seems Valve Corporation is the one developing the game. We expect DotA 2 to be a stand-alone game now.

What the players wish for DotA 2 is to have a system that can avoid or lessen the quitters of the game. Many players using the Garena logs out so upset because their game was ‘bulled’ by some weak quitter. If this system will exist in DotA 2, the more chance that this game will be a success to like the original DotA.

Here below is a video of the game, a tournament actually:
